Hands Washing Meditation | Loving Kindness

The Buddhist Metta

It starts by blessing oneself and gradually expands outward from there, eventually wishing good intentions for the entire world and all beings, even our enemies. There are many variations and translations of this prayer, but what follows is the essence of it.

One could use it while Washing the Hands!

May I be peaceful, happy, and light in body and spirit.
May all beings be peaceful, happy, and light in body and spirit.

May I be safe and free from injury.
May all beings be safe and free from injury.

May I be free from anger, afflictions, fear, and anxiety.
May all beings be free from anger, afflictions, fear, and anxiety.

May I learn to look at myself with the eyes of understanding and love.
May I learn to look at all beings with the eyes of understanding and love.

May I be able to recognize and touch the seeds of joy and happiness in myself.
May I be able to recognize and touch the seeds of joy and happiness in all beings.

May I learn to identify and see the sources of anger, craving, and delusion in myself.
May I learn to identify and see the sources of anger, craving, and delusion in all beings.

That’s 20 seconds, right?
